Dear Ride4Women office!

On behalf of organizing committee of Ride4women in Belarus I would like to express my sincerely gratitude to R4W office and ESGO for this unique event.
As you may know there is a burden of cervical cancer in Eurasia region and in Belarus as well. Cervical cancer is the most common gynecologic cancer in the Eurasia region representing approximately 7.3% of new cancer cases, and is the fourth common cause of cancer death. Cervical cancer constitutes approximately 5.8% of new cancer cases in Belarus, and approximately 20.5% and 14.0% of the new cancer cases in the Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, respectively (Globocan, 2012). In Belarus, the 1-year mortality is 12.9%, compared with 31% in Armenia and 24.5% in Kyrgyzstan. Patients often present with advanced stage (III-IV) disease: 29.2% in Belarus, 67.1% in Armenia, and 40.5% in Kyrgyzstan.
Unfortunately, we face with a huge problem of effective cervical cancer screening programs and prevention in Belarus due to several reasons and events like R4W makes a big contribution in process of developing effective strategies.

We made a wonderful and successful event in Minsk (more than 1.5 thousands of participants) with wide coverage in the media.
So R4W mission (informing population about women’s cancer, encouraging women to have regular medical checkups) is highly demanding for the region of Eastern Europe.
I hope that ESGO in future will support R4W and projects like R4W in Belarus in order to have public awareness in gynecologic cancers.
Again thank you very much for your support!

Yours Sincerely,

Andrei Pletnev
